Lighthouse connects kids and teens to words, new friends, and a writing community. We offer workshops in poetry, fiction, nonfiction, playwriting, screenwriting, and many other genres and topics. Our classes are taught by published authors and are designed to foster creativity, self-expression, and excitement about writing.
We offer youth workshops for grades 3-12 on the third Saturday of each month, as well as on certain school closure days. Students will spend at least half of the time in each workshop writing independently and will leave each workshop with a draft of a new piece of writing. Our young writers are often invited to share their work on our Young Writers Blog, in one of our published anthologies, or at one of our spring or summer public readings.

Young Writers Program Workshops Cancellation Policy
All Young Writers Program workshops are subject to Lighthouse's general cancellation policy. However, if a student must miss a workshop due to illness, that student may transfer their workshop registration once. The transfer must be used within one year.
Financial Aid for Young Writers
